Retirement of our secretary, Chris Roberts

Yesterday our secretary Chris Roberts retired from her duties of CTRF secretary. Our chairman, Chris Hewitt has sent this account of  Chris’s service and achievements:

“There are not enough words that I could use about our retiring CTRF secretary, Chris Roberts, who luckily for us is remaining as Trustee. Her knowledge with rehoming and placing the dogs in their new homes is second to none

Chris has been a big part of rescue for nearly 40 years. She was appointed as a Trustee in 1980 and within 2 years was invited by Charlie Dixon and Harry Price to be Secretary.

There is nothing Chris wouldn’t do to rescue a Cairn and over the course of time she has been a Trustee, she has rehomed hundreds of dogs.

In 2011 Chris won an award for a Life-Time Achievement for her services to the CTRF, from Dog World in memory of Kerry Williamson. Two of the comments made by nominees were, no matter what time of day she would move heaven and earth to rescue a Cairn in trouble. She would take on a dog no matter how old, there are a lot of other rescues who won’t.

This year I was privileged to go with her to the Kennel Club to meet Princess Anne.

The Trustees, including myself, always have Chris’s support and she is the back-bone of our Society, always finding time to help, no matter how busy she is.

So, Chris, a big thank you from all the Trustees, Admin and from all of the hundreds of dogs you have rehomed that you have given their happy ever after.

Chris Hewitt

Chairman”

Fortunately for us, Chris will still be with us as a trustee for the Midlands area.
