We rehomed Lottie 12 years ago today when she was almost 2 years old. Now nearly 14 she has diabetes and is blind as a consequence. Our brilliant vet ensures her quality of life in her twilight years. We have learnt so much about Cairns over those years and last year rescued Squeak who is a Cairn cross but has all those Cairn traits. Love them both ❤ ... See MoreSee Less
1 year old Tripod described as a Cairn X is with Pupcakes Rescue in Boston Lincolnshire and looking for a new home. We are sharing him to widen his audience. make all enquiries to Pupcakes FB page , see all info in post below.•TRIPOD•
🇬🇧 Located in Boston - Lincolnshire - UK 🧬 Black - Cairn Terrier x 🚹 1 Year Old 🥩 Food motivated 🗣 Vocal 🐕 Dog friendly 🚦Needs Basic Training ✅ Children (ages 7+) ✅ Friendly with strangers ⚡️ Live Wire
•ABOUT TRIPOD• Tripod came into rescue as a stray. He was involved in a road traffic accident where his back leg was damaged and had to be amputated. He was not microchipped and no owner came forward to claim him. In terms of how he became a stray none of us are guessing why - this little guy is FAST! He darts through a door before you even know it’s opening and he can clear a 6ft fence with ease. I’m guessing even with 1 leg missing! He is an absolute bundle of fun, always curious and ready for action or to stir up some trouble! He is a comical little pocket rocket who is surprisingly small, a complete foodie and a master cuddle bug! We’ve trimmed him up, neutered him, given him a round of vaccines and a microchip and he’s now good to go. He walks great on the lead, loves other dogs, loves people and literally loves life! He is straightforward, uncomplicated and will fit in seamlessly into any home. I’m actually totally jealous because he’s so adorable I would LOVE to keep him. Tripod is: • Very playful • Vocal • Never sits still
LIKES• 🧡 Cuddles 💛 Walks 💚 Food
•HOME NEEDS• At this age Tripod will fit in seamlessly to most homes but it is up to the adopter to set him up to succeed. Please be aware before enquiring that he will need further work with his house training, however he has been quite clean in kennels aside from sneakily cocking his leg on things. He would benefit from general politeness training as he jumps up and is quite unruly although at his size and being knee high to a grasshopper it’s not the end of the world, but good practice to install good training. He is incredibly affectionate and at a year old will not be able to tolerate a home with long working hours. We feel he would do well in a home as a solo dog or with another confident dog to learn from. Hes not fussed. Tripod will benefit from a home that is active; he loves to walk and when he’s regularly exercised he is calm. Given that he only has 3 legs his weight will need to be kept down in order to not put extra strain on his remaining back leg. Swimming is an excellent source of exercise for tripawds and will help their limbs and joints stay healthy without putting any added stress on them. A tired dog is a happy dog we always say.
Tripod is in perfect health and has no issues jumping on sofas/beds or going up and down stairs. Tripawds have very few limitations and a whole lot of love to give. Provide them with the care they need and they’ll go on to live long and happy lives, no extra fuss required.
Who out there would like to keep Tripod entertained for the rest of his days?
Tripod is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Meets to see Tripod are arranged on an APPOINTMENT ONLY basis AFTER a successful application and home check. Queries about our adoption process can be directed to ourselves through FB message. Unfortunately due to the volumes of messages and applications that we receive we may not be able to reply to everyone but please do give us 72hours to try to respond. Adoption fees apply.

16th Jan - Can anyone advise Peter & Ann please? Thank you in anticipation <3 Please note it's always best to go to your vet for any advice regarding your dog, not all dogs are the same. This post is to ask for Cairn owners experiences and not to give out medical advice. "We rescued Oscar through your Trustee Anne Weaver 5 years ago and as I have told Anne many times he’s been the joy of our life ever since. Approx 18 months ago our vet diagnosed Cushings Disease mainly due to his new massive drinking needs and the ever searching for food plus blood tests. Although the vet said only early days and not needing any treatment we are very worried and wondered if you had come across this problem with other Cairn owners who could offer any advice." ... I have come to the conclusion that Cairn Terriers are educated in body mass and angles due to there ability spread there weight so they don't damage over weight a certain areas as this picture shows I only left sofa to make a cup of tea now I am sitting on chair to the side of TV lol yep Oscar and Sally chilling ...
