The Cairn Terrier relief fund was founded in 1969 by a small group of dedicated exhibitors.

The Main objects of the Fund are: -

·         To relieve the suffering and distress of Cairn Terriers in need of care and attention

·          To organise the rescue of any Cairn Terrier in distress and where necessary to provide boarding facilities and veterinary attention.

·         To make arrangements for the adoption and future responsibility for rescued Cairns.

·         To promote and encourage the better care of Cairn Terriers.

The CTRF is a registered charity administered by Trustees. Its ultimate aim is to run its own sanctuary, where he old, sick and less fortunate Cairns, that are virtually impossible to re-home can receive the special care they need where they can live out the rest of their days in a comfortable and loving environment.

You can help us to achieve this aim by becoming a Friend of the CTRF.

In return you will receive a newsletter each year with an update of the CTRF activities, together with stories and items of interest including a profile of a Trustee.

It is now a well-established fact that elderly pet owners, many living alone, gain great benefit from a relationship with their animals, which often become the main focus in their lives. This special bond, particularly with the Best little pal in the World, can provide companionship, affection, comfort and protection from the despair of loneliness, and as a guard against outside threats.

The warmth and loyalty that the Cairn Terrier offers is beyond measure. They boost morale, alleviate stress and depression, bring laughter and happiness, asking little in return, only love and a kind word. Ownership of a dog in general provides an excellent mutual topic of conversation often leading to new friendships being forged. All this adds to the quality of life.

Occasionally a Cairn owner has problems in coping with their pet, possibly through age or health reasons. In these cases would you be willing to assist by becoming a volunteer helper in your local area?

Difficulties can arise in various ways and practical help can be given in partnership with the owner to overcome any day-to-day problems. These could encompass help with dog walking, grooming, visits to the vet or even short-term foster care. In return you will have the satisfaction of knowing you have helped towards enriching the lives of an individual Cairn and its owner.

You may be able to help with collecting rescued Cairns or short-term boarding, if so please let us know.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
